BMP to PNG
Bring a BMP into a PNG workflow. Export the readable image, inspect the result and save it on your device.

Three small steps. You’re all set.
- 01
Add your BMP
Choose a local file. The tool will tell you if its encoding cannot be read.
- 02
Check the dimensions
PNG is selected. Keep the original size when no resizing is needed.
- 03
Review and download
Inspect lines, color and orientation. Save the PNG and retain the source for future work.
For graphics and screenshots
PNG is convenient for taking bitmap graphics into editors and documents. It avoids a JPG quality choice, but conversion still depends on correctly reading and rendering the source.
Transparency depends on the source
BMP variants store pixels and alpha differently. PNG can preserve transparency that is read correctly; it cannot invent transparency or remove a solid background.
No upload step
Selected images are processed in this browser, on your device. Files are not uploaded to a conversion server. This version has no remote analytics.
Does PNG preserve every BMP detail exactly?
Not guaranteed. PNG stores rendered pixels without lossy compression, but decoding, color processing and resizing may affect those pixels first.
Why is the output not transparent?
Transparency depends on the original data and browser decoding. An opaque BMP will not become transparent just by changing format.
Are old or compressed BMP variants supported?
Only if this browser can decode them. Otherwise, export a copy from software that can open the original variant.
Can I reduce the PNG size?
Try smaller pixel dimensions and check the result. PNG does not use JPG’s quality setting, and re-encoding alone may not make it smaller.
