Three small steps. You’re all set.
- 01
Add HEIC or HEIF
Choose original photos. High-resolution images may work better in smaller batches.
- 02
Keep PNG selected
PNG is the default. Adjust pixel dimensions only if your next app needs a different size.
- 03
Review your PNG
Check orientation, color and edges. Compare the output size with the original before saving.
For workflows that need PNG
Create a PNG when an editor requires it or you need a consistent format for assets. For ordinary photo sharing, compare the JPG option as well.
A new format does not add detail
PNG does not recover missing detail, remove backgrounds or retain every HEIC feature. Decoding and color processing may change data before the PNG is written.
No photo upload needed
Selected images are processed in this browser, on your device. Files are not uploaded to a conversion server. This version has no remote analytics.
Is HEIC to PNG completely lossless?
Do not assume the whole process is lossless. PNG can store rendered pixels without lossy compression, but decoding, color processing and bit-depth changes may already affect the data.
Why is the PNG much larger?
HEIC and PNG encode images differently. Photos may become much larger as PNG. Compare JPG if a smaller sharing file matters more.
Will a Live Photo keep moving?
No. The output is a still image. The Live Photo video component and playback behavior are not included.
Does PNG remove the background?
No. Conversion preserves the visible content. A photo without transparency does not gain a transparent background just by becoming PNG.
